Pros: It's Says Free
Cons: A Few Years Early
Update

Hey! Well, WinFire is finally ramping it up! It's available in my local metro (Boston) area. The deals are the same. The free service they offer, is roughly 2.5x fast as a 56k modem. But it is free.

    Finally Here!!
Reviewer: BeachShopper       09-14-2007
Pros: Fast, cheap, very reliable so far.
Cons: Service agreement changes, only available in a few areas
Ok,

So it's not actually free. They changed their name to reflect this, I think. They're now officially Winfire.

Anyway, my external USB modem finally has arrived! Only took about 10 months.

    FREE BUT NOT SO EASY
Reviewer: markjfeueresq       09-14-2007
Pros: FREE AND VERY FAST
Cons: YOU NEED 10 SIGNED-UP REFERRALS TO GET A FREE DSL MODEM; THERE IS ALSO A MANDATORY AD BANNER
Free DSL. What a terrific idea. I runs circles around the other free ISP services because it is FAST.

Although the cost of DSL service has been dropping the last few months, I prefer to get it free. Why spend $30.00 to $50.00 per month,

Yep, It Was Too Good To Be True (updated 5-27-01)
Reviewer: corona13       09-14-2007
Pros: It's free. (Rather, it WAS free.)
Cons: You get what you pay for. Oh, and as of 3-08-01, they no longer exist.
----05-27-01 Update----
The saga continues. I very recently received a letter from my credit card company in response to my written dispute of the $214.42 charge (I sent them a copy of the Winfire Terms of Service along with my arguments as to why

Umm... FreeDSL... But is it worth it?
Reviewer: rchin       09-14-2007
Pros: Fast connection at 144kbps down/128kbps up
Cons: $200 for early termination, Annoying ad banner.
Believe it or not, Winfire formerly called FreeDSL does dish out fast Internet connections Without forcing you to "over spend" your cash every 30 days. FreeDSL doesn't, but However, they provide a sort of fast DSL service that every wants.

    Press release from the devil
Reviewer: commando       09-14-2007
Pros: Free, fast and sexy
Cons: Must sacrifice soul to Prince of Darkness, only available for Windows
GOOD NEWS FOR YOU HACKERZ OUT THERE!!!

Hell - (AP) Soon Web surfers will be able to sign up for free DSL (digital subscriber line) which allows for downloads of pornography and pirated software up to 10 times faster than a normal modem

    FAST AS LIGHTING

DSL At A Price Anyone Can Afford, But Has Ceased Operations
Reviewer: BucthFL       09-14-2007
Pros: The Price Of $34.95, They Offer 3 Different DSL Service Plans
Cons: Slow In Delivering Modem, Toolbar Always Has To Be On When Your Online
Winfire has ceased operations & has filed for bankruptcy as of February 28, 2001!!

I have had my DSL service with Winfire now for the past 2 months. I have experienced both the good times with them & the bad times.

Who really ever believed in "totally free"?
Reviewer: cerebraldebris       09-14-2007
Pros: Winfire is handy, dial-up is pretty good and no ad banner.
Cons: Slow roll-out of DSL
As far as the free providers go, Broadband Digital is probably one of the better I've seen. The Winfire Browser Assistant is actually pretty slick and somewhat useful. They even offer free dial-up in the meantime (with no ad banner) while you're waiting

    It would be nice...
Reviewer: jeremyf       09-14-2007
Pros: Very few.
Cons: Flawed system, not running yet, very hard to get it actually free
Free DSL? Wowzers. What a great idea! There are major concerns to be raised here, though.

First, we have yet to see if it will take off. It's very unlikely it will be available everywhere, and it's hard to see how the costs of a banner
