Earthlink kicks AOL Butt!!! Reviewer: Anonymous Dayton,Montgomery,OH 05-15-2007 I will have to say Earthlink is way better then AOL. Faster Support, Better Uptime, and everything eles just better.

Slow Reviewer: Anonymous 04-28-2007 Had this service before. Wasnt impressed very slow and sumtimes unable to connect. Frustrating.

Best cable broadband ISP. Reviewer: Anonymous 03-09-2007 Earthlink gets the highest marks for its cable ISP, scoring well in overall customer satisfaction and reliability. Earthlink includes a highly regarded spam filter, along with other security features. Speed is rated at 6.0Mbps, and a modem is free with self-installation. If Earthlink isn’t available in your area, Road Runner and Optimum Online cable services are close runners-up in the PC Magazine reader survey.

Snail speed Reviewer: Anonymous 02-27-2007 Pros: Good tech support
Cons: Snail speed connection and downloads
I'm shopping for a better , faster dialup

disconnected periodically Reviewer: Anonymous 02-27-2007 Earthlink seems to periodically disconnect just for the sake of disconnecting. I can almost predict the time of day when I will be disconnected in the middle of a download.

Earthlink won't let me cancel my account. Reviewer: Mike Anderson 02-16-2007 Earthlink does not offer a broadband solution in my area, so I went with a cable modem, this was last January. Was on hold for 2 1/2 hours to cancel my account. You can't cancel account via email, but you can apparently cancel by sending a Registered letter or by calling. They keep sending me invoices for the months after I cancelled. I sent them an email with my cancellation confirmation # and they tell me I can't cancel via email. I remind them I've already cancelled. They reply and say it will be taken care of. Next month, still another invoice and again in April another invoice. Today, I receive a letter that my account (which is closed) has gone to a collection agency. I send Earthlink another email, but get a generated reply that they do not accept email unless it comes from their web form. This is odd considering the email address for billing questions is right on the top of their invoice. I've copied/pasted my original email into their form. We'll see what happens from here.

Works most of the time Reviewer: phaedrus Santa Rosa,Sonoma,CA 02-08-2007
I was helping a neighbor with her Earthlink. Her computer broke last febuary, and I was fixing it about 3 weeks ago. Yea, not someone who most of us can relate to, just going with out internet for 4+ months because your computer is broke. Anyways, I call up earthlink tech support because the log-in/pass isnt right. So, reset the password.
Still doesnt work.
They ask for the username. Easy right? This is been her username and email address on her busness cards for the last 2 years. Turns out, even though they were collecting the 9.95$ per month, they put her email address in the inactive list and let someone else snag it. Want to know what the seinor managment told me on the phone?

called to get service; was online within 20 minutes Reviewer: drjawn Holyoke,Hampden,MA 02-06-2007 ust switched, so I will give an up date if necessary; speeds are quite good so far; I cancelled after a few days; their tech support is consistently very sub par; it takes going through five or more people to get anything accomplished; transfers are rarely handled successfully within their system; their phone tree is quite user unfriendly; speeds were ok, but they billed me for dial-up, it took weeks to clear up; they "arranged" for me to be BOTH an Earthlink cust., AND a Comcast, and I was being billed by COmcast even after I cancelled with Earthlink; this also took weeks to correct; Earthlink has sunk quite low since their earlier days.

High Speed - cheaper than RoadRunner Reviewer: neonhomer 02-06-2007 It it a good deal for the money, but support is a pain. If you call EL, they forward you to the cable provider (Brighthouse in my case). The cable provider then will bounce you back to EL.

Great price, great speed the same anytime of day Reviewer: marcusj3000 02-05-2007 Order and install took only three days. Much better than road runner.
speed is at a consistent 2100kbps down and 410 up.

Very fast, reliable service Reviewer: agrall Oak Creek,Milwaukee,WI 02-05-2007 We had Earthlink cable internet installed when we moved back to the Milwaukee area last year. Great service, fast speed, and it was a few bucks cheaper per month than TW cable internet.

Good Price, Fast Service Reviewer: Jusmrg Mc Adenville,Gaston,NC 02-04-2007 Well I decided i wanted Earthllink so i called 1-800-Earthlink. And they Asked My Phone Number. and they got my address from it and it was the same street Number and the same street in a different. I Called Time Warner and Asked if they have got my order and they said "NO". So I called earthlink and cleared all of this matter up with them and they re synced it with Time Warner, The Service it Great. and they Tech Support is in other countries and so you cant understand them.

There great? Reviewer: Jusmrg 01-28-2007 good isp provider

Good service provider Reviewer: Anonymous La Jolla,San Diego,CA 01-26-2007 Goes through Time Warner Cable in San Diego. Poor inter-company communication. Good if you can get the logistics worked out.

Great Reviewer: bgholder 01-24-2007 Where we live the speed of the service is not determined by Earthlink, but our local phone service provider. We travel lot, and I have been impressed with the number of local dialup locations that Earthlink has. We have never stayed in a town that does not have an Earthlink dial up service number.

Lousy Service Reviewer: kdwoodsict 01-19-2007 Service and speed was lousy. When I went to another service and de-installed it, it hosed my computer so bad that I had to reinstall the operating system and take it back to 'out of the box'. Will NEVER put their software on another computer!

What kind of Service Reviewer: dead-spam-delete 01-15-2007 I signed for ADSL - what a mistake! It ALWAYS has problems. Their support is from a foreign country and the last time I called the rude female customer representative told me I wasn't an earthlink customer - that was the problem. I am currently trying to cancel this service and will never use them again. Incidentally, I have used them on dialup for about 5 years and it worked, though expensive. At one time their customer service was exceptional, but now it's next to worthless: "try turning your computer off and on" is all I hear. They have little or no training at all. Looking for something that simply works!

Useless Reviewer: arie391 01-02-2007 they seem to only think that people are online for the world wide web. Their Usenet servers are often down, full of incompeletes, or otherwise slow. also, they have a 5 gig per month cap on each account. If you just want to use the web go ahead, there is no difference between any other cable or dsl, but if you want to do anything else, stick with roadrunner or whatever your local cable company offers.
