THERE HAS TO BE A LAW AGAINST THIS SURELY !!!!!!! Reviewer: bcool http://myreviews.com/admin/addreview.php?item=56949&catid=83 11-16-2007 I have been connected to Virgin Media 20Mb Cable Connection for only 1 day ... I have performed tests on speedtest.net it seems the 20mb is not even 2mb and after resettin the modem and trying new modem ... Virgin is really a pro at screwing their customers as iam getting a faster upload than download 400k down 700 up.

very good Reviewer: TITANIC 11-16-2007 I have been with them 3 years, with very good speeds, i was on 4mb but now on 20mb both with good speeds.

I want Blueyonder back Reviewer: Tenz 11-16-2007 I had been a very happy Blueyonder customer for over 10 years. Excellent speed, low latency & great FREE customer support.
Since Virgin Media took over I am disgusted with the slow speeds, high latency, traffic shaping (forget trying to do anything between 4pm and Midnight) broken promises and shoddy support for which you pay 25p/m to get someone who doesn't speak English or know what a computer is.
As soon as I can get a BT line installed I'm leaving and never looking back.

very unhappy!! Reviewer: clairem 11-16-2007 We're leaving Virgin cable and have gone back to a BT line with ADSL because of the very poor, unfriendly, and to be frank useless support that they offer. We started to have problems with our cable a few weeks ago and had to call - to my horror we were charged for the call, and the person at the other end had no idea what we were on about. That was the last straw and we've just given our 30 days notice, good bye!!

Appalling service Reviewer: whittington 11-16-2007 The problem with most broadband providers is that things go OKish until they go wrong. The acid test seems to be what they do when you're having problems. Virgin imposed a punitive premium rate on their customer service line after I joined. When the (slightly flakey) broadband simply stopped working I paid a small fortune to call them just to ask them to provide me with the service they had promised. They were utterly useless. I finally resorted to writing them letters which they completely ignored. I'm so annoyed with them that I've just issued a small claims court process against them. I do not recommend.

Annoyed Reviewer: whittington 11-16-2007 My issue is the fact they now traffic shape my data so between 4pm-12am 3 gb is your limit anymore data up or downstream is throttled to a tiny tiny amount 2meg maximum and uploading forget it. I also have problems with streaming now and i have to pay them to ring them because of a fault with there service. Blueyonder was fantastic no shaping or paying for help, now i pay virgin more for less ! they oversell the nodes and spend nothing on upgrading and expect us the xl package users to suffer at their expense.
The situation is disgraceful and i have canceled my internet and tv as i no longer get skyone either.
I'm looking at BE broadband ?

The Best in the market Reviewer: sohail_2k 11-16-2007 Apart from their help desk / support (which they have moved to India and they really don't understand our problems) every other thing is fantastic. I have been with NTL for 3 years and never had any issue with the speed. I mostly download stuff from Rapidshare and it always give me the promised speed and with out any download limits (it does matter where you download your stuff from).
I recommend it to all but before taking Virgin everyone should do a little research especially try to understand the difference between cable and the ordinary copper telephone line.

Virgin Media NIGHTMARE Reviewer: Wulfrune 11-16-2007 When Virgin used to be Telewest my internet connection used to be awesome. Friends of mine used to marvel at the speed it'd achieve, but not anymore.
Since Virgin took over the service has plummeted. I have the laughably called "top package", the only thing top about it is its price. For the last 6 weeks I've been trying to contact Virgin to make a complaint about them, but will they answer my complaints? answer NO. All I'm met with is promises and lies. Now, to add insult to injury they charge you 25 PENCE a MINUTE to call their helpline in INDIA. Their systems fails, YOU have to pay them to talk about it. As soon as I can, I LEAVE

A wolf in sheeps clothing Reviewer: Evil-Dragon 11-16-2007 Been a Telewest (was Birmingham Cable) customer going back to their dialup only days. Quickly moved on to their broadband packages and enjoyed the service. Was happy to pay extra for faster speed because it was always guaranteed.
Then the bad news came, NTL had bought Telewest. I knew it was bad news after all the complaints NTL used to get on Watchdog. True to say they haven't changed. Now they have a new tactic, rename the company to cover up their bad reputation. Virgin Media is nothing more than NTL renamed. Do not be fooled, Richard Branson doesn't care.

absolute garbage! Reviewer: dazzy 11-16-2007 i was very happy with telewest and my 2mb package. i got advertised speed, was fast and faultless.now virgin media have got there hands on it,oh dear.poor speeds, pings in games all increased, problems with streaming content.absolute rubbish!
how can a company take over a tremendous service and reduce it to this.i am angry and disappointed as i now have to search for another isp and was extremely happy with blueyonder.it really is the pits!

The service is really slow Reviewer: only connect 11-15-2007 I switched over to Virgin broadband in June. The switchover was a mess. They spelt my name incorrectly (not an uncommon name) and were merrily emailing all my setup instructions to an email address I didn't know I had. The service is really slow - in the evenings, painfully so.

nothing but complain Reviewer: ImissTelewest 11-15-2007 I used to be with Telewest and had Blueyonder Broadband and never had a reason to complain. Since Virgin took over, I've done nothing but complain, and Virgin have now tried to stem the tide of complaints by charging a premium rate fee for what used to be free technical support.

How Virgin Media have any customers left Reviewer: Anonymous 11-15-2007 How Virgin Media have any customers left at all is a complete mystery to me. They offer the most appalling service and have wasted literally days of our time trying to resolve issues which should not have been there in the first place and remain unresolved. For what it's worth to those of you who.

Never get actual speed as promised. Reviewer: ReveiwMan 11-15-2007 Sometimes I have to keep re-setting the Broadband Machine to use the Service. Very poor customer service and respond time, I really believe all Virgin wants is the money. I mean I have the telephone service to and have requested my statements from March 2007

They are charging me for 4Mbps and I get less than 1 Mbps !!!!!!!!! Reviewer: Virgin Sucks 11-15-2007 They are charging me for 4Mbps and I get less than 1 Mbps !!!!!!!!!

Virgin Media took an unauthorised sum of £280 from my credit card Reviewer: Anneizzard 11-15-2007 I was astonished to discover that Virgin Media took an unauthorised sum of £280 from my credit card account in error for a £28 transaction and are now making all sorts of silly excuses not to pay it back to me. I understand I must take recourse in a County Court Judgement

I am paying Virgin Media for the 8Mb service. Reviewer: chrisxxxxxxx 11-15-2007 I am paying Virgin Media for the 8Mb service. I had it installed 5 days ago. Upload speed is as expected - always around 300k - 400k. Download varies from 56k - 700k. Had one hour of 2Mb. I live 500m from the exchange, and there is no problem with the wiring in the house.

Installation engineers said that I have to buy my own HD lead Reviewer: mjpc 11-15-2007 Installation engineers said that I have to buy my own HD lead, they did not set my HD box to HD mode, now I found out that the package includes a HD lead. Still waiting for a phone call from them as they promised. I am planning to consider the 28 days money back option.

An all round good ISP. Reviewer: darren70 11-15-2007 An all round good ISP. Good IT back up service and online help when you need it. Good value broadband packages Virginmedia lets you now if there is going to be any change in there service weeks before so you are not left in the dark.

No faults or downtime after nearly a year of using Virgin Media, Reviewer: alimackay 11-15-2007 No faults or downtime after nearly a year of using Virgin Media, so luckily have never needed to contact customer service. I have the 20Mb internet package and download speeds are always good, best I've seen is over 2,000Kb/s. Regularly have 4 people playing online games with no lag whatsoever.

I am changing to another internet Reviewer: joerob 11-15-2007 I used to be with telewest and had no problems with the level of service, the speed was consistent and stable and never any loss of conection; when Virgin took over everything went down hill, very slow conection, loss of conection, bad customer service, you name it! I am changing to another internet

Spend on some other ISP Reviewer: defobble 11-15-2007 If you are looking for a supplier for over a year I would recommend getting a non-cable line installed and pay the £125 for that service. Then spend your money on companies who don't treat you like you are begging for a favour when you pay them for a service.

follow up to my other review Reviewer: yellowtimechris 11-15-2007 As a follow up to my other review I received a call from customer services this morning about my complaint about poor customer service at Virgin. I was told that the service given was agreed at best poor, and that this will be used as a feedback to generate a better service. Somehow I don't quite

I think their cabled services are OK. Reviewer: akki2020 11-15-2007 I think their cabled services are OK. I was on cabled services for 2 months and apart from the fluctuating speeds, the customer service was OK because I never called them! Although in the installation, I did and they were of little help. But the real trouble started when I moved house to a non-cable

Overall Virgin are very good, especially when compared to Pipex Reviewer: colin 11-15-2007 Overall Virgin are very good, especially when compared to Pipex

TERRIBLE!!!! Reviewer: beobjective 11-15-2007 I got to the UK 3 months ago and innocently chose Virgin Media as my new provider OMG BETTER NOT! Had speeds of 420 KBps (NOT KIDDING, downloads of 40 K/s) and the customer service is even worse than non existent, because their responses are always the same and copied from a script they

Under normal circumstances, Reviewer: prisoner 11-15-2007 Under normal circumstances, when you purchase a product or services there is an option to cease doing so when that product/service no longer meets your needs or you no longer wish to pay for it. Therefore why does Virgin Media compel its customers to continue an arrangement which is no longer suitab

very unreliable and crashes all the time Reviewer: latey 11-15-2007 The broadband connection is very unreliable and crashes all the time, although we tried to call their "customer service" several time, who are most of the time very unhelpful, its still not working properly. And to add to the fun, they have now put the phone calls to the broadband customer services

slooooooooow! Reviewer: goldcard 11-15-2007 I was a Telewest customer for 11 years before Virgin took over and never had cause for complaint. Since Virgin Media came on the scene the service has been incredibly unreliable and slooooooooow!

I feel harsh Reviewer: StationMeik 11-15-2007 I feel harsh giving Virgin Media 0, as the 30+ call centres agents (I spent the whole day on the phone) did try their best reading from the cue cards in front of them, I didn't sign up to be on hold for five days trying to get a service which has failed for no reason.
