Cogeco - Another Big Criminal Company
Reviewer: ruffor       09-14-2007
Pros: Some internet pages do load on 2nd try.
Cons: Buyer Beware! Slow download speeds and no upload speeds.
I subscribed to Cogeco's lite internet cable. I've had High speed before and don't need the extreme speed for 50$.
Cogeco installed the modem and was very gracious to give me a little piece of paper with my email address on it. No manual or CD. Then Cogeco thought they would start charging me for high speed which is 45$. I didn't even think I was getting high speed because every second page could not find server and upload speeds were almost non-existant. I had a new computer with windows XP so it's not a Software issue. Customer support was useless as usual as this was somehow my fault for not phoning them right away for their criminal acts. Cogeco is just another Large company without integrity or morals and only cares about profit.

    Cogeco highspeed lite is slow
Reviewer: conrailgrille       09-14-2007
Pros: Good speed if you pay for the full, decent speeds with the lower packages.
Cons: Slow(compare to their full high speed pack) speed if you get the Cogeco lite.
I have had different Cogeco internet packs on more than a few occasions as I move around a lot. Some in the same city and some elsewhere. But have had a few types of high speed in the very same building. My point is Cogeco will tell you that there is 3

    It ain't "always on
Reviewer: falderal       09-14-2007
Pros: Can be fast at times.
Cons: Often choppy or non-existent internet. Customer service is usually 1/2 hour wait.
They kept on overselling this area, despite inadequate bandwidth capabilities. Told customer service staff to keep up the myth. Most people who try it and know what to expect are disappointed.

    reliable or unreliable
Reviewer: hockey-girl       09-14-2007
Pros: fast
Cons: not always reliable
I had the privilege of using cogeco cable for 8 months last year, and i would have to say that it is pretty reliable, but not 100%. It always seemed to not be working when i needed it the most, and when it wasn't working it would be for a few days.

Once you go cable you won't go back

Pros: 900k download, redundant network, knowledgable tech staff
Cons: slow wait times on queue
REVISED! as of July 18th 2000.

Hi There,

I recently wrote a comment about cogeco@home and about 10 people somewhat recommended the opinion, I think that if you plan to NR my opinions that you should at least take the time to

    Cable Rocks!

Cons: Member services down once in a while...
The internet on cable is surely the greatest thing since sliced bread!

    The Cadillac of connections
Reviewer: ve3cnu       09-14-2007
Pros: Very fast and doesn't tie up my phone
Cons: Expensive
I work with a lot of computer geeks - I'm one myself and here in Ontario cable modems and DSL arrived about the same time. Everyone at work was wondering which one to go with. Some said DSL was architected better, some said it didn't matter.

    Cogeco - Cable Internet
Reviewer: vindictiv       09-14-2007
Pros: Faster than DSL by a long shot.
Cons: phone call wait times; but service was good when they answered.
There is not a faster bandwidth solution anywhere in most of their areas. DSL, although seen as its main competitor was ALOT slower when I had it.
Physically, DSL is not capable of the speeds the cable co is offering. Cogeco offers 2 Mb connection

    Eat my dust, dial-up!!!
Reviewer: ice_cap       09-14-2007
Pros: Fast, multiple connections, easy to setup.
Cons: Expensive, poor tech support.
I've been using Cogeco's cable internet net service for more than 2 years now and I'm very pleased with the service.

The setup fee is around $150 CDN but you can always find some kind of promotion for free installation. When you call the cable

Goes down more often than a White House intern
Reviewer: lukasneville       09-14-2007
Pros: Speedy when it's up,
Cons: but it's hardly ever up.
Henry Ford, upon the release of his Model T, quipped to the press, regarding choice of colour, "You can have any colour you want, as long as it's black." A modernization of this same theme can be seen in Ontario: You can choose any cable internet

Best choice High-Speed ISP for Hamilton area.
Reviewer: benjamin76       09-14-2007
Pros: Speed, Easy to setup, unlimited access
Cons: sometimes a bit sluggish, goes down out of the blue sometimes.
I've been a Cogeco internet customer for about 5 years now. And we've been through our share of difficulties... The account allows up to 7 email addresses, with 10megs of mail each, plus allows you to host your pages on the cogeco servers

High speed as it should be.
Reviewer: the_toecutter       09-14-2007
Pros: Great speed, always on connection.
Cons: High speed is still too expensive in my opinion.
A few months ago, I noticed that my DSL (Bell Sympatico High-Speed) connection was timing out. I then called Bell to inquire about this. After testing my line, they discovered another problem - my connection was extremely slow. After sending out a
